What is GeoPic?

GeoPic is a new social media experience app that combines the fun of photos and chat with real world connections and allows Users to engage in shared experiences in public or private locations. GeoPic allows Users to post photos and videos by location. When posting to Public Locations all photos and videos captured at that location will be viewable to all Users. For Private Locations posts are only visible to those Users who are invited by the location creator.

Why did you create GeoPic?

There seemed to be a real need to connect the physical world with social media in a way that could enhance the experience of a shared event or activity. We have attempted with GeoPic to ground the social media experience with real world connections. So now a concert or sporting event can be shared and experienced from the perspective of all attending. The friend and chat features create opportunities to connect during or after this shared experience.

For the casual User of GeoPic they can experience the world through someone else’s eyes with the goal to entertain, inform and build a bridge of understanding between all people. It is a lofty goal but perhaps we may all come to realize we have much more in common than what divides us.

How much does GeoPic cost?

GeoPic is FREE for all Users.

Which platforms are GeoPic available?

GeoPic is currently only available on iOS operating systems and will soon be available on Android.

How does chat work?

Users may initiate a chat with anyone using GeoPic by tapping the “chat” icon. Once they select the chat icon, they may initiate a chat with anyone using GeoPic.

What does Default Location Radius mean?

The default location radius allows the user to establish a specific radius each time they create a location on GeoPic. The current default radius is set to 800 feet. Users may change the default radius in Settings>Set Radius.

What is a Private Location?

A Private Location is a location created by you and images saved in the Private Location will only be viewable by you or friends you invite to the Private Location. All invited Users can also contribute to your Private Location.

How do I invite Users to my Private Location?

You may only invite a GeoPic User who is a friend on GeoPic to your Private Location. Once you have created your Private Location, select the add friends on the top right of the screen. You will then have the ability to Add a friend by selecting the + icon on the bottom right of the screen.

How does the Invite Friends button work in my profile?

When Users select Invite Friends, they will be able to invite Users from their list of contacts on their mobile device. Invited Users will receive an email from GeoPic with a message that you have invited them to join you on GeoPic.

Why do you need my cell phone number?

GeoPic will allow Users the option to reset their password using the cell phone number.

How do I edit my profile?

Users may edit their profile in Settings>Edit Profile.

After taking a photo how does the “Create New or Join Location” button work?

When a User takes a photo or video, they will be asked to Create New or Join Location. A User may have already added your current location to GeoPic, and you will be provided a list of Existing Locations or you may create a new location.

How do I add a filter to my image?

On the image, there is a filter icon on the right-hand side of the screen. Click on the filter icon and slide left to select your filter and click Apply to save the filter.

How do I add a caption to my image or video?

On the image or video, select Caption. Once entered, select Done.

Can I change the filter or add a caption after I capture the photo?

Filters or captions may be added at any time. Select the photo you would like to edit and choose either the filter icon or caption icon. Edits will automatically be saved.

Can I delete multiple images at one time?

Users currently do not have the ability to delete multiple images at one time. To delete an image, select the image you wish to delete and select the trash icon and the image will be deleted immediately.

How do I block a user from contacting me?

Select the Flag icon on the lower right-hand corner of the screen to block this User. You will receive a confirmation to confirm before the user is blocked.

How do I use a flag?

Any User can flag content posted on GeoPic. Any content flagged for violating our Terms of Service will be removed until it has been reviewed to determine if it is compliance with GeoPic’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. If the flagged content is deemed in violation of any provision of the GeoPic Agreement, the content will be permanently removed.

How do I request a friend?

To request a friend currently using GeoPic, tap on their profile picture and select Add Friend. The User will be sent a friend request from you and will be able to accept or reject. Users may also select Invite Friends and they will be able to invite friends from their contact list from their mobile device.

What is Trending?

Trending locations are locations where many Users have uploaded or liked images within a short period of time.

What is Most Liked?

Images that have received the most likes for each location will appear first in Most Liked.

Are there standards while using the GeoPic App?

All Users are required to accept and comply with the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service while using the GeoPic app. We seek to operate a respectful, inclusive Service free of harassment, intimidation or bullying. To achieve these goals, we have created a standard of conduct to be observed by all Users.

What happens when I delete my account?

If you delete your account, the deletion process will automatically begin and your videos or images will no longer be viewable to your friends or in Public Locations. If you accidentally delete your account, please contact us at [email protected] and we will reactivate your account.

Do I have to save my photos or video to my camera roll?

GeoPic Users have the option to save their photos or videos to their camera roll. You may turn this off or on by going to your profile in Settings>Camera Roll.

How do I search for Users on GeoPic?

You may search for Users by typing their username in the search bar. A search Username will appear.

How do I capture video?

To capture a video, press and hold the circle icon until you are done recording.

Can you create a live stream on GeoPic?

Live streaming is currently not available on GeoPic but stay tuned as it may be added as a feature in a later build.

What is a Public Location?

A public location is any location that is open and accessible to the general public. Any Users may add images or videos to Public Locations.

How do I change my password?

On the sign in screen, select Forgot Password. Users may change their password either by receiving a text code or email.

I am creating a Private Location. How do I invite my friends to share in the location?

Once you create your Private Location, select the Users you would like to add to the Private Location. Any images or pictures they capture at that location will appear in your Private Location folder.

Can I access my images or videos on my desktop?

GeoPic.io allows the public to view images or videos captured at public locations uploaded by Users. You can view images by specific locations, countries, recent and trending. Users currently do not have the ability to log into their accounts from the website.

If I return to the same location and capture more photos or videos will GeoPic know to add my images to that specific location?

When you capture an image or video, you will be asked to either Create New or Join Location. If you select Join Location, that location should be an option for you to choose.

Can I share an image or video to a user not on GeoPic?

Invite your friends to join you on GeoPic to share in the experience. Your friends will be able to view and add images.
